Myrtle Beach Fall Rally
Oct 1st, 2008 through Oct 5th, 2008
Myrtle Beach Fall Rally marks the end of major motorcycle rallies on the coast of the Carolinas for the year. Since this event occurs after the 'tourist season' season is officially over, it offers much less traffic and congestion than its spring counterpart, Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Lodging prices are typically lower, also. But, don't be fooled, Myrtle Beach Fall Rally is still a major motorcycle rally in every way.
I attended Myrtle Beach Fall Rally in 2005. The official estimates I have found stated that estimated attendance was in the 50,000 to 60,000 range, but my unofficial estimate places that much higher. On Saturday, we left our motel room in Pawleys Island and rode 24 miles north, both on 17 bypass and 17 business, and never came across a spot without loads of motorcycles on the road and parked at various eating/drinking establishments. But, for the most part, traffic flowed smoothly, with only a couple of the more popular rally locations experiencing any traffic tie-up.

- Poker Runs
- Live music throughout the event, at numerous locations
- Vendors - for about anything a biker would want
- Manufacturer displays
While at Myrtle Beach Fall Rally, don't miss these nearby attractions
Many people spend their entire vacation enjoying the events and comradery offered during Myrtle Beach Fall Rally. But, if you want to just get away from the hustle and bustle that is Myrtle Beach during the rally, here is a short list of some of some of the attractions nearby:
- Take a safari style jeep tour, where they offer pickup at many Myrtle Beach resorts, and enjoy three and a half hours visiting nearby areas, including a spanish style castle. Visit the Carolina Safari website for more information.
- Hobcaw Barony, over 17,000 acres of wildlife refuge, and at one time home to several rice plantations, is approximately 30 minutes south
- Wilmington, NC, with its historic downtown district, several houses open for tour, and the USS North Carolina battleship is about an hour and a half north

Motorcycle related laws to know while attending Myrtle Beach Fall Rally
One of the common complaints when returning from a major motorcycle rally is about the law being rampant, and giving tickets out for every minor infraction. While we cannot stop all tickets from being given, some of those tickets are due to you, the attendee, not being aware of some of the standard laws in the state. Below are some of the most common laws for South Carolina. Be aware, though, that many rally locations have recently passed local ordinances that may be more strict than the state law. For example, a new noise ordinance was passed in Myrtle Beach just in time for the 2005 Fall Rally. I make every effort to keep this information up to date, but you may want to research them more just prior to going to an event, just in case they have changed.
